MOROWALI - North Morowali Regent (Morut) Delis Julkasson Hehi strongly condemned the anarchist demonstration at the location of the nickel processing industry (smelter) PT. Gunbuster Nickel Industri (GNI) in Bunta Village, East Petasia District on Saturday afternoon, January 14.

"I deeply regret even strongly condemning the actions that were suspected to be triggered by foreign provocateurs who brought other agendas," said Delis as quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 15.

Delis said he would fully hand over to the police and other security forces to handle legally the rioters and could immediately restore the security situation that had been running so far so conducive that the industry would return to normal.

The Regent of Morut strongly suspects that this riot was triggered by provocateurs from outside the interests of the welfare of employees and the sustainability of the nickel industry by bringing their agendas.

"We do not want the peaceful and peaceful atmosphere that has been maintained in Morut, to be damaged by provocateurs. We want the presence of investors to manage regional potential for the welfare of the community," he said.

Delis also denied the rumors spread by provocateurs that the riots marked by the destruction, arson and looting were triggered by persecution by foreign workers (TKA) against Indonesian workers (TKI).

"Please straighten out the information, yes. The foreign workers who were attacked first, then clashed. In the midst of these clashes, there were people who took advantage of the opportunity to destroy and looting in the TKI female employee dormitory," said Delis again.

In order to restore the situation around the GNI, the Regent of Delis has ordered the Head of the Morut National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol) to gather mass organizations to have a unified understanding and correct statement regarding this incident.

The Regent also asked the East Petasia sub-district head and village heads to gather their citizens to provide direction so as not to be provoked by provocations carried out by individuals who want to damage the unity and integrity and harmonious situation that has existed in society so far.

The riots that occurred in the PT. The GNI reportedly caused two fatalities (died), a TKI and a foreign worker as well as considerable material losses.

It was also reported that there was looting in the TKI women's dormitory as well as burning company assets.

Around 70 people have been detained by the police for thorough investigation of the anarchist's actions.
