The Karawang Regency Police arrested the perpetrators of stabbing hawkers around the Karawang Regency Government red light intersection.

"We from the Karawang Police arrested the perpetrator with the initials AR (24)," said Karawang Police Chief, AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono, quoted from Antara, Sunday, January 15.

The victim in the incident was Yana Suryana (36), a resident of Paracis Village, Tanjungpura Village, West Karawang District, Karawang.

The stabbing carried out by AR resulted in the death of the victim on Wednesday, January 4. Shortly since the incident, AR police (24), a resident of Pedamaran VI Village, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency.

"We managed to secure the suspect on Tuesday, January 10, 2023," he said.

The arrest of the perpetrator was successfully carried out after the Resmob Unit of the Karawang Police Satreskrim moved quickly armed with witness statements and CCTV footage, as well as the results of detecting the characteristics of the perpetrator who killed at the local government red light.

The police chief said that the murder occurred after the perpetrator felt hurt by the victim who forbade the suspect to sell around the local government's red light intersection.

"The AR perpetrator did not accept the victim's warning (which prohibited selling around the local government's red light). Then AR planned to kill the victim," said the police chief.

In accordance with the perpetrator's statement, he said, after being banned from selling crackers around the local government red light intersection, the AR perpetrator then took the angkot to Johar Market.

The perpetrator deliberately went to Johar Market to buy two knives. Then the perpetrator returned to around the local government intersection (the location of the murder).

At the scene, the perpetrator immediately approached the victim who was on the sidewalk of the local government red light. Suddenly, the perpetrator immediately stabbed a knife into the victim's stomach. The victim had fled, but was chased by residents.

"After successfully stabbing a knife into the victim's body (YS) then the suspect (AR) fled," he said.

The perpetrator fled by leaving his merchandise crackers along with a knife left in his pack of cracker plastic bags.

"As a result of stab wounds, the victim could not be helped, died while being taken to the hospital," said the police chief.

For this incident, the perpetrator is now being held at the Karawang Police Headquarters detention center, and is threatened with Article 338 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 15 years in prison.
