JAKARTA - Commander of Korem 172/Praja Wira Yakthi Brigadier General TNI Juinta Omboh Sembiring said the weapons owned by armed civilian groups in the Bintang Mountains were mostly obtained from the ruins of the MI-17 helicopter that crashed in 2019.

The crew and passengers were found in the Mandala Mountains, Oksop District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Mountains Province, in February 2020.

"The weapons taken from the wreckage of the helicopter and ammunition were used to attack civilians and security forces," said Danrem when contacted in Jayapura, Papua, Friday, January 13, quoted from Antara. The TNI and the Bintang Mountains Regency Government, community leaders and religious leaders continue to approach the armed civilian group (KSB).

Through this approach, Danrem hopes that KSB will no longer carry out acts of violence against civilians and officers so that development can be carried out.

"Immediately surrender to account for the actions that have been done because otherwise the TNI-Polri will conduct a measured pursuit and arrest," said Brigadier General Sembiring.

Previously, since Saturday, January 7, 2023, KSB has carried out a number of acts of terror by shooting and burning a number of public facilities. The buildings that were burned, namely the SMKN 1 building and the Bintang Mountains Disdukcapil Office, as well as shooting at Ikairos' civilian plane

In 2019, a MI-17 helicopter belonging to the TNI carrying 12 crew passengers crashed and crashed during a flight from Oksibil to Sentani, Papua.

There are five passengers from the Battalion Battalion Battalion 725/WRG, namely Second Sergeant Ikrar Setya Nainggolan (team commander), with members of First Private Yaniarius Loe (main automatic rifle assistance), First Private Risno (main rifle shooter 1/GLM), Second Private Sujono Kaimudin (main shooter 2), and Second Private Tegar Hadi Sentana (leader rifle shooter 4).

Meanwhile, the MI-17 crew are Captain CPN Bambang as flight engineer, Captain CPN Aris (pilot), Sergeant Head Suriatna (T/I), First Lieutenant CPN Ahwar (copilot), First Private Asharul (mechanicals), Soldier Head Dwi Pur (mechanicals), and Second Sergeant Dita Ilham (avionics commander).

The helicopter carried 11 weapons consisting of seven types of SS-1 assault rifles, three pistols, and one grenade launcher aka GLM and ammunition.
