JAKARTA - The chairman of the PAN faction of the DPR, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, disagreed with the assessment of the Secretary of the PDIP faction, Bambang Wuryanto alias Bambang Pacul, who said that the attitude of the 8 factions against the proportional closed election system was just a 'hore-hore'.

Saleh explained that the statement of position that was attended by 8 faction leaders in the DPR was a serious step to support an open proportional system as part of the democratic process. "The eight factions are not playing games, they are not kidding. Yes, it is very serious," Saleh told reporters, Friday, January 13. Saleh emphasized that the statements made by 8 political party factions were based on rational thinking based on correct moral actions. Instead, according to him, the eight factions wanted to prioritize people's sovereignty through openness, equality, and justice. Because the open proportional system is considered more representative, asspiralous, accommodative, and accepted by almost all circles.

"That is also part of democracy. There must be discussion and discourse in the public sphere, and that is an example of participation. Each party may express opinions," said Saleh.

Saleh said the eight political parties certainly realized that all would return to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK). Therefore, it is hoped that the views of 8 factions can be used as considerations.

"Because, the decision that will be taken regarding the constitutional rights of citizens in the implementation of our democratic party," said the member of Commission IX of the DPR..

However, the chairman of the Election Winning Body (Bappilu) of the PDIP DPP said that his party did not have the right to prohibit other political parties from expressing their opinions. Pacul also encourages every political party to rethink every existing system.
