Deep Meaning Of Daeng Malewa, Honorary Title From Gowa For General Dudung

JAKARTA - The Kingdom of Gowa gave the KSAD General Dudung Abdurachman the title of Gowa's traditional name "Daeng Malewa".

The procession of giving this traditional name title was given to the number one person in the Indonesian Army at the Balla Lompoa Museum, Somba Opu District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, Thursday, January 12.

"That the title of Gowa is an honor for the Gowa indigenous people as a large Gowa family," said the Head of Tourism and Culture Office of Gowa Regency, Andi Tenriwati Tahri as reported by the Department of Education and Culture.

Daeng Malewa means a figure who is always a mediator and balancer in guarding the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Daeng Malewa also implies a figure who always upholds the truth and is at the forefront of perfecting the attainment of goals.

Apart from that, Daeng Malewa also contains an allegory as a figure who always upholds the spirit of the soldiers he leads.

The procession of confirming the customary title was marked by the installation of the Songkok Nibiring, the pinning of the badik, and the handing over of the Decree on the Establishment of Traditional Titles by Adnan Purichta Ichsan. Then followed by the handing over of the traditional title charter by Andi Kumala Idjo Karaeng Lembang Parang Sultan Malikussaid II as a representative of the Gowa Royal family.

After receiving the inauguration, General Dudung expressed his gratitude to the Regional Government of Gowa Regency and the Kingdom of Gowa as well as the indigenous people of Gowa for trusting him with the customary title given to him.

"This title does not necessarily have consequences for me personally, but for all ranks of the Indonesian Army, that all Indonesian Army soldiers must become Daeng Malewa, who at all times and wherever he is on duty and is always guarding the unity and sovereignty of the country, loves the people and prioritizes the interests of the people," concluded the KSAD.
