JAKARTA - The latest Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) survey results show that the majority of Prabowo Subianto voters in the 2019 presidential election shifted to support Anies Baswedan.
Meanwhile, the majority of Joko Widodo (Jokowi) voters in the 2019 Presidential Election shifted to Ganjar Pranowo.
"The election of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno is 44 percent (shifted) to Anies Baswedan, Prabowo Subianto is only 37 percent, to Ganjar 13 percent," said SMRC founder Saiful Mujani in the program "Slope Prabowo to Anies" which was broadcast on the SMRC TV YouTube channel, monitored from Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, January 12.
Meanwhile, of the total 55.5 percent of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin voters in the 2019 Presidential Election, the majority of voters were 44 percent shifted to Ganjar Pranowo, then another 22 percent chose Prabowo Subianto and the remaining 20 percent chose Anies Baswedan.
The findings were obtained by comparing the results of the 2019 Presidential Election which was then crossed with the question, "If the Presidential Election is carried out now, who will you choose as president?"
Meanwhile, based on Prabowo Subianto's religious background in the 2019 presidential election, which was dominated by 98.7 percent of Muslims, the majority of whom were 45 percent chose Anies Baswedan. Then, another 36 percent still chose Prabowo and the remaining 13 percent chose Ganjar Pranowo.
"Among Pak Prabowo's strongest voters are Muslims, Anies's non-Muslim voters are not from Pak Prabowo's zero (0 percent)," he said.
Saiful said that out of a total of 1.3 percent of Prabowo Subianto's voters in the 2019 presidential election who were religious other than Islam, as many as 75 percent of them still chose Prabowo and the remaining 14 percent chose Ganjar Pranowo.
Saiful also underlined that Prabowo Subianto's transfer of voter support in the 2019 presidential election to Anies Baswedan was due to the element of Islamic sentiment in the 2019 presidential election that Prabowo previously used to move to Anies, which he said was quite consistent in carrying Islamic politics.
"Pak Prabowo lives maybe now that is more nationalist-nationalist, so it is a bit similar to Ganjar. Therefore, competition according to political identity will occur between Ganjar and Anies. From Pak Prabowo, the Islamic aspect has been much reduced in entering the 2024 election," he added.
The SMRC survey, which was conducted on December 3—11, 2022, was conducted on 1,220 respondents using a multistage random sampling method. Respondents who are sampled are those who have the right to vote, namely those aged 17 years and over or are married.
This survey with face-to-face interview data collection technique has tolerance or a margin of error of around 3.1 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
