Garut Police arrested a young man who was the leader of a motorcycle gang called Centrum for carrying out reckless convoys on the highway carrying sharp weapons that disturbed the public. "We have secured the Centrum leadership and it has raised the status of a suspect, it has been detained," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Rio Wahyu Anggoro during a press conference on the disclosure of the motorcycle gang case at the Garut Police Headquarters, West Java, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, January 11. The police chief said the head of the motorcycle gang with the initials MHR was one of 17 members of the Centrum motorcycle gang who carried out reckless convoys on the highway. However, other motorcycle gang members are still underage or students, there are also other members who are subject to minor criminal sanctions according to local regulations. Specifically for the MHR suspect, said the Police Chief, it was found that he was carrying a sharp weapon while carrying out a convoy with the aim of looking for a commotion on the highway. "The person who committed the crime was one person of age, namely MHR's brother. He played a role in leading the activity by carrying a knife (sharp weapon) in the form of a samurai," he said. The suspect MHR was charged with Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 with a penalty of 10 years in prison. The suspect is currently languishing in the detention room of the Garut Police Headquarters to undergo legal proceedings and then the motorcycle gang action case file will be handed over to the Garut District Attorney for the trial process. "In a short time we will send the file to the prosecutor's office for prosecution," he said. The police chief revealed that the confession of members of the motorcycle gang to carry out reckless convoy actions on the highway aimed at finding enemies and making the community restless. Luckily, there were no victims in the action, but the actions of the motorcycle gang members must be accounted for according to the applicable legal rules. Previously, dozens of Centrum motorcycle gang members rode motorbikes recklessly carrying bottles and sharp weapons along a number of roads in Garut City.
