Governor of DKI Invites SOEs to Sponsor Formula E This Year

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono has invited state-owned enterprises (BUMN) to sponsor Formula E this year.

During the 2022 event, the former head of the Formula E committee, Ahmad Sahroni, once asked SOE Minister, Erick Thohir, so that a state-owned company could participate in sponsoring the electric car racing event. However, none of the SOEs looked at it.

"Go ahead (SOE sponsor Formula E)", said Heru at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, January 9.

However, Heru was reluctant to take care of the process of organizing Formula E, including financing its activities.

Because this year, Formula E was held under a business-to-business (B2B) scheme between PT Jakarta Propertindo as the organizer of the BUMD and Formula E Operation (FEO) as the holder of the Formula E license.

"That's a business, please. How (Jakpro submit) the proposal, go ahead", he said.

For information, FEO has included the schedule for holding it in Jakarta on June 3 and 4 2023 in its race calendar.

"2023 is included in the FEO race calendar which was officially announced via the website. The event will be held for 2 days, tentatively, June 3 and 4", said PT Jakarta Propertindo VP Corporate Secretary, Syachrial Syarif, in a short message, Friday, January 6.

Syachrial explained, Jakpro as the SOE organizing Formula E will still coordinate intensively with FEO as the Formula E license holder regarding the preparation of the team that will be in charge of this electric car racing event.

In addition, the event format and the concept for the Jakarta E-Prix race are still in the drafting stage. Likewise with prospective sponsors who will participate in this year's race.

"Jakpro again hopes for the support of all parties so that the net zero race event with a worldwide sustainability campaign can run smoothly", said Syachrial.
