Makassar Fire Department Secures a Total of 68 Snakes Wandering in Residential Residents

MAKASSAR - Makassar City Fire Department during 2022 and early 2023 secured 68 pythons roaming several residential areas to be handed over to the South Sulawesi Province Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA).

"We have submitted all of them to the BKSDA to be released into their natural habitat", said the Head of Operations for the Makassar Fire Department, Cakrawala, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 9.

Based on data for 2022, the number of rescue animal operations or rescuing dangerous animals hanging around residents' homes, was recorded for the type of python as many as 63. And at the beginning of January 2023, there were five of them, for a total of 68.

Furthermore, for handling the eradication of wasp nests nesting in residents' homes as many as 152 were followed by bees with 23 nests. 12 monitor lizards, and 30 cat rescues.

For these several incidents, his party appealed to the public to always be careful and alert for all possible bad events that could occur.

"We continue to remind and urge residents in terms of fire prevention to always be careful and alert in all situations", he said.

Regarding the existence of pythons roaming residents' settlements, he asked the public if they find a disturbing snake or wild animal to immediately report the incident to be handled by the Makassar Fire Department.
