JAKARTA - A viral video on TikTok social media regarding complaints from TransJakarta passengers about a case of sexual harassment that occurred at the TransJakarta Kramat Jati Bus Stop, East Jakarta, received a response from transportation observer Azas Tigor Nainggolan.

Azas asked PT TransJakarta to immediately maintain tight security at each stop and on TransJakarta buses to prevent sexual harassment of TransJakarta passengers.

As is known, the viral video was seen by a female passenger in fear at the TransJakarta Kramat Jati bus stop and asked TransJakarta for supervision of the man's whereabouts, who was always at the Kramat Jati bus stop.

The passenger expressed his suspicions about a man he often met at the Kramat Jati bus stop, as if he were an employee or a TransJakarta officer. The man usually exists around 20.00 - 22.00 WIB.

"Pelaku kerap memperhatikan penumpang dengan pandang yang membuat penumpang perempuan di buste ketakutan," ujar Azas kepada VOI, Senin, 9 Januari.

Regarding the incident, according to Azas Tigor, to this day there has been no response from TransJakarta to the complaint and fear of female passengers at the TransJakarta Kramat Jati bus stop.

"The absence of a response or attitude to the complaint in the video proves that PT TransJakarta does not care about the safety of its passengers," he said.

The circulation of the video indicates that the passenger safety security system is not functioning in the PT TransJakarta service.

"As long as the perpetrator did an harassing view, it was not seen that there was a TransJakarta bus stop officer on duty there. Moreover, the incident always happened at night, the victim could not complain or ask for help because there was no TransJakarta bus stop officer," said Azas.

Azas further said that so far many passengers have been victims of sexual harassment on buses and TransJakarta bus stops. Seeing the threat of sexual harassment, PT TransJakarta must immediately maintain tight security at the bus stop.

The threat situation at the Kramat Jati bus stop is a strong warning so that PT TransJakarta immediately acts against the perpetrators and prevents further harassment.

"As stated by the Governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, that TransJakarta must make safety a top priority in every TransJakarta service," he said.
