JAKARTA - Ukraine's parliamentary chairman on Saturday said that Ukraine's main goal this year was to achieve victory over Russia.

"Winning is our main goal and we will definitely win," said Ruslan Stefanchuk, responding to questions from Anadolu news agency about Ukraine's top priority in 2023, citing Antara.

The Ukrainian people, who lived in the shadow of a series of explosions for nearly 11 months, flocked to the church to celebrate Orthodox Christmas on Saturday.

Stefanchuk explained that they were praying for Ukraine's victory.

A number of senior Ukrainian officials, including deputy head of the Presidential Office of Kyrylo Tymoshenko, attended the Christmas meeting, which was held at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Eastern Orthodox Christian monasteries (Monastery of the Caves).

This year, Metropolitan Epiphanius Kiev inaugurated the first Christmas mass as head of Ukraine's Orthodox Church since breaking ties with Russia.
