KPAI Only Calls For Cases Of Child Violence Stopped

JAKARTA - At the end of 2022, the public was surprised by the emergence of videos of violence against children. The perpetrator, who is a former OVO employee, is his own biological father.

Chairman of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), Ai Maryati Solihah, said violence against children must be stopped because it has a negative impact on its growth and development. Especially if the violence is carried out by the closest person to the child.

"Violence in children has a broad and prolonged impact on children's growth and development, especially if it is done by those closest to them," said Ai Maryati Solihah, as quoted from Antara, Saturday, January 7.

Currently, the case is still being handled by the South Jakarta Police. In addition, the victim's mother also reported this case to KPAI on January 3.

Ai Maryati said KPAI was coordinating and sending a letter to the police and the Integrated Service Center for the Empowerment of Women and Children (P2TP2A) to be able to follow up on the case.

"In order to strengthen it for the best interests of the victim's child," he said.

Ai Maryati Solihah said children who were victims of violence were required to receive legal assistance, mental recovery, and get protection rights against their identities.

In addition, referring to Articles 2 and 90 of Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System (SPPA) and Article 64 paragraph (3) of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection, other rights.

The article states that children who are victims of violence have the right to a fair and proportional legal process by taking into account the condition of children, obtaining information on the development of cases, medical and social rehabilitation comprehensively and sustainably.
