Yogyakarta - The tower 1 Bener Rental Flat in Yogyakarta is still operating to serve COVID-19 patients. The shelter for handling coronavirus cases remains open because the government has not revoked the status of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The shelter in Tegalrejo District is still open to serve the community," said Head of the Yogyakarta City Health Service (Dinkes), Emma Rahmi Aryani in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Friday, January 6.

Based on data from the Yogyakarta City Health Office, the findings of COVID-19 cases in the 52nd or 25th week of December 25-31, 2022, recorded 14 cases with 25 patients declared cured.

The cumulative total of cases in Yogyakarta was 36,389 cases with a cumulative cure rate of 96.72 percent, while the death rate was 3.23 percent.

From the results of the epidemiological study, almost all urban villages or from 45 urban villages in the city of Yogyakarta are in the green zone or there are no cases, namely 34 urban villages and the remaining 11 urban villages are in the yellow zone or low risk, and overall the city of Yogyakarta is in the yellow zone.

Previously, based on an Antara report, the Acting Mayor of Yogyakarta Sumadi appealed to the public to continue to apply health protocols in various daily activities including washing hands and continuing to wear masks.

"Once again, what has been revoked is the PPKM rules, meaning that various community activities have been allowed to return to normal as before. However, the pandemic is still there," he said.

The policy of revoking PPKM by the central government, continued Sumadi, is based on a study on the level of community immunity which is considered quite high.

"We in Yogyakarta will still encourage residents, especially the elderly, to access the second booster vaccination," he said.

In the city of Yogyakarta, the achievement of the first booster vaccination reached around 120 percent, while the second booster was recorded at around 24 percent.
