The Banyumas Police, assisted by a team from the Central Java Regional Police's Sub-Directorate of Crime and Violence (Jatanras), managed to arrest the perpetrator of the murder of a woman at a Purwokerto hotel, Banyumas Regency. "The perpetrator with the initials DY alias Rony (35), a resident of South Purwokerto, was arrested by joint officers in Cirebon, West Java, this morning at around 04.00 WIB," said Head of the Banyumas Police Criminal Investigation Unit Kompol Agus Supriadi Siswanto while giving a press statement in Purwokerto, Antara, Thursday, January 5 afternoon. According to him, the arrest was made at the house of one of the perpetrator's friends who is also an ex-convict. When arrested, Rony had tried to escape so that the officers took measured action on his right leg. The perpetrator was a recidivist of a premeditated murder case that occurred in Purwokerto in 2012 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison and had served a sentence on Nusakambangan Island, Cilacap Regency, until finally he was released from condition around 2020. After being arrested, the perpetrator was immediately taken by the Resmob Team to the Banyumas Police Satreskrim Office in Purwokerto for examination. Based on the results of the interim examination, it was found that the motive for the murder was based on the perpetrator's jealousy towards the victim with the initials IGC (25), a resident of Purbalingga Regency, who is his lover because the woman is in a relationship with another man. "The murder of the IGC was carried out by the perpetrator on Tuesday at a hotel," explained Kasatreskrim. Before the murder took place, he said, the perpetrator had abused the victim at a Purwokerto karaoke place and around the Bulupitu Purwokerto Bus Terminal. The victim was beaten, kicked and even hit the victim who worked as a guide for the song with a paving block until finally the IGC was weak. After limping, the victim was taken to a hotel in the early hours of Tuesday. While in the hotel room, the victim was again tortured and abandoned by the perpetrator in a dead condition at around 03.00 WIB until finally found lying on the bed by hotel officials on Tuesday (3/1), around 16.00 WIB, and then reported to the Banyumas Police. Meanwhile, the perpetrator, who was aware of the IGC murder case, immediately fled to Cirebon on Tuesday (3/1) night. "Indeed, from the autopsy results, many wounds were found on the victim's body, such as the head, bruises on his eyes, and all over his body," said Commissioner Agus. Nevertheless, he said that so far his party had not found any injuries caused by sharp weapons on the victim's body. In addition, he said, the murder case against the IGC was allegedly planned by the perpetrator, so his party would ensnare the perpetrator with Article 340 of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 338 of the Criminal Code. "We are still investigating this case to ascertain the real motive," said Kasatreskrim.
