JAKARTA - The public prosecutor (JPU) objected to the presence of former Setya Novanto's lawyer Firman Wijaya as a mitigating witness for the defendant Ricky Rizal at the trial of the alleged murder case of Brigadier J. This is because Firman Wijaya cannot attach a physical assignment letter from the campus. Firman Wijaya is a criminal hukun expert who teaches at Tarumanegara University. "In fact, what we understand is that every expert we present or mitigating witness presented, especially the father of an expert, lecturer, and even the dean at a university, of course, in providing information must be accompanied by a letter of assignment. So, we object that he provides information as an expert a de charge without being accompanied by a letter of assignment from the university," said the prosecutor at the trial at the South Jakarta District Court, Wednesday, January 4. Then, Firman apologized to the panel of judges and prosecutors. He said there was no assignment letter because the campus had just returned to operation on January 5. However, the prosecutor still expressed his objection. Firman's letter of assignment does not show the identity of the defendant he will defend. "We still refuse his presence," said the prosecutor. Responding to this, the panel of judges emphasized that Firman was presented from the Ricky Rizal camp. So, it has been emphasized that Firman gave a statement to the defendant Ricky Rizal. "It was not stated for who the defendant was, but who presented the defendant's legal advisory team, so we consider accepting it," said the judge. In this case, Ricky Rizal was charged with being involved in the alleged murder of Brigadier J. He is said to have not prevented and reported the occurrence of a crime. Then, in this case there are four other defendants, namely, Ferdy Sambo, Putri Candrawathi, Strong Ma'ruf, and Bharada Richard totaling. Referring to the indictment, Ferdy Sambo ordered Bharada E to shoot Brigadier J at the Police Complex official residence, Duren Tiga, South Jakarta, July 8. In this case, they were charged with violating Article 340 of the Criminal Code, subsidiary to Article 338 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code. They face a maximum sentence of death, life imprisonment or a maximum of 20 years.
