BANJARNEGARA - Banjarnegara Police managed to arrest a perpetrator of violent robbery or theft against an online taxi driver in Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java. Banjarnegara Police Chief AKBP Hendri Yulianto said the perpetrator was known to have the initials TS (23), a resident of Sepatan, Tangerang Regency, Banten. He was arrested on Sunday or seven hours after the incident. "Alhamdulillah, after the pursuit, the suspect TS was arrested in Brebes on Sunday at 23.30 WIB," he explained during a press conference at the Banjarnegara Police Headquarters, Antara, Monday, January 2. Hendri said the robbery began with an order to take passengers from Mandiraja, Banjarnegara, to Patikraja, Banyumas Regency, which was received by an online taxi driver on behalf of Adi (31) on Sunday at around 14.00 WIB. However, when he arrived at his destination, he said, the passenger, who is also the suspect with the initials TS, asked to be escorted back to Mandiraja. On the way, he continued, TS asked the victim to stop his car because he wanted to urinate, so the online taxi stopped in the Gandulekor area, Banjarnegara, at around 16.30 WIB. Not long after, the perpetrator pointed a sharp weapon that was suspected to be similar to the victim's neck and Adi immediately parried it with his left hand. "The victim jumped out of the car screaming for help from the residents," said the police chief. He said residents who heard the screams of the victims tried to approach but the flow of vehicles from the direction of Banjarnegara was quite congested. According to him, the victim who walked towards the Olala meatball stall and the owner of the kiosk was looking for a ride to take Adi to the house of the Candiwulan Village Head Supardaya. Because the victim Adi suffered an incision wound, the Candiwulan Village Head took the victim to the Mandiraja 2 Health Center and then reported the incident to the Mandiraja Sector Police which was forwarded to the Banjarnegara Police Criminal Investigation Unit. Meanwhile, after receiving the incident report, he said, members of the Banjarnegara Police Satreskrim Mobile Investigation Unit immediately pursued the perpetrator who was known to have taken away the victim's gray and metallic Ertiga car. According to him, his party on Sunday at around 23.10 WIB received news from members of the Brebes Dermbong Security Post who informed that Ertiga's car with the characteristics as in the information spread by the Banjarnegara Police was seen passing towards Brebes. "Furthermore, members of the Dermoleng Security Post along with members of the Larangan Police confronted the perpetrators," he said. After the ambush was carried out, he said, the perpetrator was arrested on Monday today at around 00.30 WIB, and then taken to the Kenawatan Police Station to be handed over to members of the Banjarnegara Police. Based on the results of the interim examination, the perpetrator, who had never committed a crime of theft, admitted that he came from Tangerang with his family to visit his brother in Banjarnegara. "So, after taking this action, TS fled to his brother's house to pick up his family and then left for Brebes to Banten," he explained. Suspect TS was charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code with a maximum sentence of nine years in prison.
