PAPUA - Dandim 1702/JWY Lt. Col. Cpn Athetius Murap invites the public to stay away from alcoholic beverages or liquor. This was conveyed while attending the opening service at the beginning of 2023 at the Indonesian Evangelical Economy Church, the Garam Air Squad, Jayawijaya Regency. "Keep away from alcoholic drinks because it can make us do negative things other than have an impact on health," said Murip as quoted by Antara, Monday, January 2. The Jayawijaya Dandim, who is the original son of the Central Mountains Province, said that if you continue to consume alcohol, it will have a negative impact on all of them. "I hope that if any of the congregation sees and knows of a liquor transaction in Jayawijaya Regency, don't hesitate to come and report it and it will be followed up," said Murip. On that occasion, Dandim 1702 Jayawijaya congratulated the New Year 2023 and prayed that all would be blessed by God. "Hopefully this year we will all get blessings from Him and let's work together to maintain security so that development can be carried out and felt by all of us," said Murip. The service earlier this year took the theme "work and serve according to His will" led by Rev. Nicko Wetipo and was attended by around 500 congregants. The worship event was filled with performing the typical dances of the mountainous community performed by church youths.
