JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation through the Tanjung Priok Class I Marine and Coast Guard Base (PLP) managed to evacuate all 65 passengers on the KM Giant ship.

The ship suffered a broken steering incident due to bad weather while sailing from the Thousand Islands to Muara Angke, North Jakarta.

"So this ship on its voyage suffered a broken wheel at sea due to bad weather, so the ship was adrift for two hours," said Head of Tanjung Priok Class I PLP Base Triono in a written statement in Jakarta, Monday, January 2.

Triono revealed that the evacuation was successfully carried out thanks to the collaboration between the Tanjung Priok PLP Team and the Thousand Islands Police.

"We can evacuate passengers and board the KPLP P.214 Damaru patrol boat from Untung Java Island to Tanjung Priok PLP Base Pier, Jakarta safely and escorted using a Pangkalan PLP Bus and Police Bus to Muara Angke," Triono said as quoted by Antara.

Triono reminded the entire community to always be careful traveling in the midst of bad weather.

"You must always be vigilant and also continue to prioritize shipping safety aspects," he said.
