The Chief of Police is Grateful for the Safe Implementation of the 2023 New Year

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the situation for the 2023 New Year's Eve celebrations throughout Indonesia was proceeding safely and conducive.

"Recent monitoring of the situation before the end of the year, entering the start of a new year, in general, it was reported from the western, eastern, and central parts of Indonesia that it was generally good", said Sigit as quoted from Antara on Sunday, January 1

However, Sigit said, several areas became exceptions, including South Sulawesi, which had just experienced a landslide disaster, so the security task in the South Sulawesi region was focused on search and rescue tasks.

The Papua region is also generally reported to be under control, although there have been incidents of attacks by armed criminal groups (KKB).

"But everything can be overcome. Tonight it is reported that everything is under control. We hope that New Year's Eve celebrations in Papua and its surroundings can run smoothly so that people can close the year well", he said.

He also voiced his hope that the New Year 2023 could bring goodness to all Indonesian people.

"I take this opportunity to wish the community a happy New Year. Hopefully, we can have a good year and be full of hope, full of success, and of course good for all Indonesian people", he said.

On the same occasion, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono said the weather throughout Indonesia was observed to be sunny and conducive.

However, all TNI personnel on duty are still asked to be on standby in the event of an emergency.

"Right now almost all areas, especially at sea, are experiencing high waves, so earlier we told our ranks to remain alert, SAR alert, emergency response alert, to anticipate anything that might happen", said Yudo.

TNI ranks will continue to alert personnel to support the implementation of Operation Lilin 2022.

"Until the completion of the Lilin operation, I convey to all ranks, especially the TNI, to remain BKO and back up this security task", he said.
