MERAK - The crossing of Merak - Bakauheni Port, Lampung, early Sunday morning, returned to normal with the vehicle getting on board at Pier 3 running smoothly compared to Saturday, December 31 afternoon, which was congested due to extreme weather. Merak-Bakauheni crossing went smoothly without any queues, with vehicles being crossed. In addition, the weather at Merak Port is relatively safe because it is not so high in sea waves and also blows the wind not too strong.

Currently, he is only waiting at Pier 3 of Merak Port for about 15 minutes. "We were forced to choose a New Year's journey in the early hours to Bakauheni Port, Lampung," said Mulyanto, who traveled to Palembang, South Sumatra, as reported by Antara. Johansyah, another driver of a private vehicle admitted that after arriving at the executive dock, he could immediately get on the boat to go to Bakauheni Port. "We departed from Jakarta only 3.5 hours from Jakarta and arrived at Merak Port and could be crossed without any density," he said.

An officer from the Ministry of Transportation at Pier 3 of Merak Hasan Port said that currently the flow of vehicles to the Bakauheni Port crossing was running smoothly, without any congestion compared to Saturday (31/12), at 16.40-22.00 WIB. At that time, Merak-Bakauheni's journey was temporarily closed due to high waves accompanied by strong winds. However, currently Merak Port conditions are relatively safe and normal so the crossing is smooth. "We see that the weather conditions of Merak Port on two days are guaranteed safe for shipping," he said.
