The Bintan Police, Riau Islands Police gave permission to celebrate fireworks on New Year's Eve 2023 in nine crowded locations scattered in the local area.

Bintan Police Chief AKBP Tidar Wulung Dahono said the nine crowded locations included four in the Lagoi tourist area, four on Trikora Beach, and one in Bintan Bay.

"We gave permission, because there were operators or experts who set off the fireworks," said the Bintan Police Chief, quoted from Antara, Saturday, December 31.

The police chief said that people who want to obtain permits to set off fireworks on New Year's Eve can obtain permission from the Intelligence and Security Unit (Sat Intelkam) of the Bintan Police.

He also appealed to the general public not to carelessly light fireworks, especially without being accompanied by operators, because they are worried about endangering the safety of themselves, their families, and the surrounding environment.

"It is also prohibited to light fireworks in places of worship, public spaces, and residential areas," said the Bintan Police Chief.

Furthermore, the Bintan Police Chief also reminded fireworks distributors and firecrackers not to sell their products carelessly to buyers, especially those over two inches in size because it is very risky to threaten public safety.

"If it's above two inches, the sale must have a police permit," said Tidar.

He invited the public to maintain security and order together on New Year's Eve.

His party guarantees maximum security in crowded centers on New Year's Eve 2023 to prevent disturbances in public order.

"We have mapped out which centers are the crowds of residents on New Year's Eve. The National Police guarantees the safety and comfort of the community to welcome the turn of the year," he emphasized.
