JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi) Edi Hasibuan said the dismissal of the former Head of the Propam Police Division Ferdy Sambo had legal force.

According to him, the decision of the National Police which stipulates dishonorable dismissal (PTDH) of Ferdy Sambo has also complied with the procedure.

"We see that the determination has gone through a long process and the decision has given a sense of justice to the community," he said in a written statement, Friday, December 30.

He said that if Ferdy Sambo through his lawyer is currently suing President Joko Widodo and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo for his dismissal at the State Administrative Court (PTUN) then it is Ferdy Sambo's right.

This lecturer at Bhayangkara University Jakarta believes that Ferdy Sambo's dismissal, which was strengthened by the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 71/POLRI/2022 concerning Disrespectful Dismissal of Police High Officers dated September 26, 2022, is in accordance with applicable regulations.

"Sambo had previously appealed for his dismissal by the Police Code of Ethics Commission but was rejected," he said, quoted by Antara.

Previously, Ferdy Sambo sued President Jokowi and National Police Chief Listyo Sigit regarding his dismissal as a member of the National Police.

On Friday December 26, the Police Code of Ethics Commission dismissed or PTDH against Ferdy Sambo for committing a violation of premeditated murder Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J on July 8, 2022.

Ferdy Sambo is currently undergoing trial for the case at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) as a defendant.
