The Lembata Police, East Nusa Tenggara, examined four witnesses in the alleged abuse case by a number of members of the National Police against people with mental disorders (ODGJ) in Lembata Regency. "The investigation team from the Lembata Police has examined four witnesses regarding this case," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Ariasandy, in Kupang, quoted from Antara, Thursday, December 29. This was conveyed in connection with the development of a case of alleged abuse by a number of suspected police officers who served in Lembata against OGDJ on Tuesday, December 27. The four witnesses were Ance, the victim's brother who was allegedly abused, Marjuni, Arnoldus Taenana, Stefanus Lia Bayo. Meanwhile, the victim who was mistreated himself has not been examined because according to his family, the victim is OGDJ. The investigative team, he said, had asked the victim's family for evidence to show a certificate from the doctor about the victim's health condition. “ But the family has not been able to show the letter,” he said. The police, he said, are still investigating the case. But unfortunately until now there have been no witnesses who have seen firsthand the incidents of abuse experienced by the victim. In addition, he explained, the investigative team still had difficulty uncovering the incident because no witnesses had seen it and who knew or identified who the perpetrators of the victim's abuse were. To be able to examine victims, he said, the Lembata Police have coordinated with the Psychology Section of the NTT Police HR Bureau. "“Investigators are looking for other witnesses who know about the incident of abuse experienced by the victim, to find out who the perpetrator of the abuse was and how the victim was abused," he added. Kapolda Inspector General Johanis Asadoma has confirmed that his party will follow up on the case. "I ask that the members on duty in NTT not to commit violence against the people," he said.
