Case Of ART Curi Motor Tetangga Berjung Damai, Police Efforts To Restorative Justice For Humanitarian Factors

The Tambora Police stopped the motorcycle theft case by a household assistant (ART) with the initials SU (51). Termination of the case is carried out through restorative justice procedures.

"We met the perpetrators and victims. The victim agreed not to proceed with this issue to the next legal process due to humanitarian factors, then the victim withdrew the report," said Tambora Police Chief Kompol Putra Pratama when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, December 29.

Kompol Putra explained that the reason the Tambora Police facilitated the settlement was through a restorative justice mechanism against the case because of a humanitarian factor.

"We prioritize humanitarian factors. The motorbikes that we have managed to confiscate from the collectors are then returned to the victims of Anwar," he said.

According to the SU perpetrator's statement, he stole because of the economic urgency.

"The person concerned is desperate to steal a motorcycle because he is in a lot of debt with his neighbors. He (the perpetrator) is also the back of the family with three children. The money from the sale of the motorbike, he uses it to eat his family daily," said Kompol Putra.

After the perpetrator and the victim were met, both parties agreed to make peace and not continue this case to further legal proceedings.

"The victim understands the economic condition of the perpetrators and both parties agreed to make peace by making a peace letter and withdrawing the report," he said.

Previously, it was reported that a middle-aged woman with the initials SU (51) was arrested by the Tambora Police for stealing a neighbor's motorbike in Gang Gerindo IV, South Duri Village, Tambora.

The woman from Cilacap, Central Java works as a household assistant. SU has three children. While her husband is an elderly man. She was forced to steal because she was the backbone of the family.
