Police Prepare The SAR Team And Sarpras Anticipate The Potential For Extreme Weather Today

The National Police ordered all levels of Polda and Polres to prepare mitigation measures related to the potential for extreme weather that is expected to occur in Jabodetabek.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) have issued an early warning of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds today, Wednesday, December 28.

"During the anev (analysis and evaluation) with all regional police and police officers, the Deputy Chief of Police has directed to prepare SAR and Sarpras troops to deal with the situation of natural disaster contingency," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Dedi Prasetyo in his statement, Wednesday, December 28.

Dedi also asked police leaders in their respective jurisdictions to map potential vulnerabilities and then directly confirm the conditions that occur.

"Kasatwil have been ordered to go to the field to map the vulnerabilities that may occur in their respective areas and prepare the contingency plan to the fullest," said Dedi.

Previously, BRIN climatologist Erma Yulihastin said there would be extreme rain until a devastating storm hit Jabodetabek on Wednesday, December 28.

It is estimated that the weather is based on data collected from the satellite-based disaster early warning system, Sadives.

"Whoever you live in Jabodetabek and especially Tangerang or Banten, please prepare for extreme rain and catastrophic storms on December 28, 2022," Erma wrote on her Twitter account, @EYuliyastin.

BMKG also responded to the news that became the talk of the community. BMKG reported the potential for a catastrophic storm in the Jabodetabek area on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

"Based on the BMKG weather forecast on December 28, 2022, generally it is rain with moderate to heavy intensity. But not a storm!" said BMKG Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto.

Upon the weather forecast, he appealed to the public to remain calm and continue to update information through the official BMKG channels.

Guswanto added that the public is also advised to remain vigilant against all potential hydrometeorological disasters at the end of the year.

"BMKG urges the public to be aware of the impact of this potential extreme weather, namely the potential for hydrometeorological disasters," he said.
