SULBAR - The trans Sulawesi road was damaged by tidal waves. The damage occurred precisely on the coast of Tammerodo Village, Sendana District, Majene Regency, West Sulawesi Province (Sulbar).

Half the trans Sulawesi road that connects Majene Regency-Mamuju City has shifted to the sea after being damaged by tidal waves on Tuesday, December 27.

As a result of the road damage that cannot be passed by vehicles by one pass, only one lane can be crossed.

"The public is asked to be careful across the road, even though it has been given a sign that half of the road has experienced landslides after tidal waves continued to hit Majene's coast," said Hermadi, a resident in Majene.

He said that queues were applied through that route so that this condition was quite hampering the trip from Majene to Mamuju City.

Moreover, he said, a number of other areas along the Sulawesi route, Majene, were also damaged, namely in the trans Sulawesi Jaln, Rangas Village, Banggae District, Majene Regency.

He asked the government to immediately repair the road so that it can be carried back by the road user community smoothly.

Meanwhile, the West Sulawesi National Road Maintenance Center (BPJN) said that roads damaged by tidal waves were temporarily repaired so that road users could pass.

Head of BPJN Sulbar Sjofva Rosliansyah said the road would be repaired by building wavewalls and elephant stones so that the road could be passed smoothly again by the community.
