President Jokowi: May Christmas Wake Up All Of Us Up

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that peace, happiness, and love will always cover the steps of the Indonesian nation in the atmosphere of Christmas 2022.

"My Christian brothers who are delighted to welcome Christmas wherever they are. May peace, happiness, and love always cover all of our steps," said President Jokowi via uploads on the official Instagram account @jokowi, quoted from Antara, Sunday 25 December.

In the upload, President Jokowi also included an image related to the atmosphere of the Christmas celebration with the words "Merry Christmas Day".

Meanwhile, Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas attended a Christmas celebration with Christians at the St. Joseph Church, Kupang City, Saturday (24/12) night.

The Minister of Religion was greeted by hundreds of Catholics who wanted to celebrate Christmas Eve mass. Not only that, the Minister of Religion was also picked up by Pastor Parish Santo Yoseph.

On that occasion, the Minister of Religion greeted Catholics at the church, then said that he was the Minister of Religion and minister of all religions in Indonesia.

"Merry Christmas my brothers, Fathers, Mama, Nyong, and Miss," said Yaqut.

The Minister of Religion feels the peace and joy of Christmas Eve with the Christians of Kupang City.

He said there was no partition in solidarity, tolerance, and humanity. In respecting each other, all religious people should respect each other.

"Keep maintaining peace and joy in celebrating Christmas, keep it simple and meaningful," said the Minister of Religion when giving a speech to Catholics at the Santo Joseph church.

The Minister of Religion also appealed to all religious people to respect each other, especially for Christians, to maintain security in NTT.

"I invited all Catholics, Christians, to maintain peace in this country among religious people and believe in their religion well. All religions must teach good things," said Minister of Religion Yaqut.
