JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno revealed one way to boost tourists in the rest area.

According to Sandiaga Uno, product differentiation can be one way to increase tourist visits to the rest area. One of them is the 229B rest area at the Kanci-Pejagan toll road.

"If there are several different products from each other, this uniqueness will increase not only experience, but memories. Later this rest area will always be a byword," Sandiaga said, quoted on Saturday, December 24.

The former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta is trying to get local creative economy (ekraf) players to create differentiation between 30 kiosks located in this rest area. In addition, he offered creative economy actors to be given training through the Nusantara Culinary Design Surgery Program (Bedakan).

Normally, people come to rest areas just to rest, go to toilets, pray, and eat. In fact, continued Sandiaga Uno, resting places can provide local handicraft creative creative products such as Cirebon prayer equipment and sarongs.

"We can encourage the revival of innovation so that there are more business opportunities and job opportunities for creative economy actors," explained Sandiaga Uno.

The manager of Rest Area 229B, Teguh Pribadi, stated that there were 18 percent of visitors coming to the resting place from 31,000 passing vehicles on the Kanci-Pejagan toll road. Therefore, he hopes that there will be an increase in visits to 25 percent.

Most of the rest area visitors do not buy various creative products due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic which weakens people's purchasing power. They just ride to rest by bringing their own mats and food," he said.
