Rain Deras, Two Villages In Central Lombok Flood

LOMBOK - A number of houses in Banket Parak Village, Pujut District and Kidang Village, East Praya District, Central Lombok Regency were flooded, after heavy rains accompanied by strong winds hit the area from Friday night to Saturday afternoon, December 24.

"River water overflowed, so it entered the residents' yard," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of Central Lombok BPBD, Zamzuri in Praya, quoted from Antara, Saturday, December 24.

The flood was quite disturbing people's activities, because the water level reached the thighs of adults, but his party could not provide detailed data regarding the affected residents.

"We are going down at the location to provide assistance, but road access to the crime scene cannot be passed, because the water is quite high," he said.

Previously, on Friday, December 23, five villages in the Mandalika circle were flooded, but conditions were normal after the authorities evacuated.

Central Lombok Police Chief AKBP Irfan Nurmansyah, together with members went directly to the flood site to help affected residents in the Pujut District, Friday.

"Our presence is expected to help and ease the burden on residents affected by the flood," he said.

He explained, after direct inspection, at least five villages were affected by the flood, including Kuta Village, Sengkol Village, Mertak Village, Burangkat Barak Village and Sukadana Village.

"It is known that the flood was due to the high intensity of rain that has flushed the local area since Thursday night until now," he said.
