JAKARTA - Turkey is again showing its superiority in the field of drone development, particularly military drones, with the success of testing drone-based supersonic missiles.

The supersonic missile used was a TRG-230 air-to-ground missile, which successfully hit the target accurately from a distance of 100 kilometers in the latest test.

The supersonic missile developed by Roketsan, under the coordination of the Defense Industry Presidency (SSB), was fired from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UCAV) in detail from Baykar.

Akinci, which took off from a base in wayorlu District, northwestern Tekirda path and covered a distance of about 700 kilometers from northern Black Sea Sinop Province, achieved its target of more than 100 kilometers away. The feat marks Turkey's first ballistic supersonic missile.

The missile is only integrated on the Aberinci drone for now, and there is no further information on whether the missile will be integrated into other UCAVs such as Anka, Aksungur or Bayraktar TB2.

"Bayraktar AKINCI achieved its target with the UAV TRG-230, the first supersonic Tujurkiye missile developed by Roketsan, from a distance of 100 kilometers," Baykar's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Selcuk Bayraktar wrote in a post on Twitter, launching Daily Sabah December 19.

The TRG-230-UAV missile, which has an effective range of 20 kilometers to 150 kilometers, reaches its target with the right accuracy.

The domestic explosion maintains its high sensitivity even with GPS interference and can strike fixed targets as well as moving targets. Strategic points such as artillery and air defense systems, radar stations and logistics facilities are among the TGR-230 targets.

In addition to the TRG-230 ballistic supersonic missile, a number of ammunition was also launched from Akrinci, including the miniature MAM-C/L/T, TEBER-82, KGK-S layoff-82, LGK-82, and TOLUN.
