Longer Coalition With NasDem THAN Gerindra, PKB Opens The Possibility Of Cak Imin Becoming Anies' Vice Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - PKB opens the possibility of forming a coalition with the NasDem Party. The longer factor of 'friending' in the government coalition with NasDem than with the Gerindra Party, became one of the considerations that emerged.

"Yes, it is possible. If a coalition friend within the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government, NasDem and PKB have been in coalition longer than Gerindra," said Deputy Chairperson for the PKB DPP Election Winning Division, Jazilul Fawaid, to reporters, quoted Friday, December 23.

According to him, the NasDem Party, which has declared Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in 2024, needs coalition partners in order to smooth out the former Governor of DKI Jakarta to run in the 2024 presidential election. Moreover, Anies still needs a companion figure for the vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

"You can't say that Anies ran alone without a vice president. Even though there are 20 percent of the party, there is no vice president, that's not allowed because those registered with the KPU are pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates, not just the president," he said.

Jazilul also opened the possibility that Anies would choose the General Chair of PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin as a companion to run in the 2024 presidential election.

"There is no reason to close yourself as long as everything is calculated objectively rationally and proportionally for victory," said the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR. So far, it is possible that the coalition with NasDem and carrying Anies will first be discussed, both internally with the PKB and with the Gerindra Party. Because as is known, said Jzilul, currently PKB has a coalition with the party chaired by Prabowo Subianto. Although, PKB and Gerindra who are under the leadership of the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition have not yet decided who the presidential and vice presidential candidates are. So far, both parties want their general chairman to run as presidential candidates.

"This possibility can be compromised. If we look now our coalition with Gerindra. Gerindra also has a presidential candidate, so in the coalition we just have to sit together to discuss it," said Jazilul.
