BPBD: 156 Houses Still Inundated In East Aceh

ACEH - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Aceh Regency stated that as many as 156 housing units in the district were still flooded. Head of BPBD East Aceh Regency Ashadi said the hundreds of houses that were still flooded were spread across a number of villages in Pante Bidari District and Rantau Selamat District. "The flooding occurred due to high rainfall, causing a number of overflows. However, most of the houses that were previously flooded have now begun to recede," said Ashadi in East Aceh, Antara, Thursday, December 22. The houses that were flooded were in Rantau Selamat District covering Alue Kaol Village with 74 families or 211 people affected, Gampong Alue Punti with 43 affected families. As well as in Pante Pante Bidari District covering Gampong Pante Labu with 40 families. The flood also caused the activity of the population to be completely paralyzed, said Ashadi. "Meanwhile, the flood areas that have gradually receded include Gampong Alue Kaol in Rantau Selamat District. However, we urge the public to be prepared for further flooding," Ashadi said. Although in a number of flood areas it has receded, in Gampong Pante Labu, Pante Bidari District, the water level has increased. Residents' houses began to be flooded with overflowing rivers. In addition to flooding, the village through sub-district elements also reported landslides covering the road in Peutow Village, Birem Bayeun District. "As a result of the closure of a road body with a height of up to 1.5 meters, it caused a breakdown of land relations between villages to the center of the sub-district capital in the region," said Ashadi.
