President Jokowi Wants To Open The Indonesia-Vietnam New Flight Route

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) wants a new flight route between Indonesia and Vietnam as well as revitalizing the previously opened route. "The direct flight route between business centers and tourism between the two countries must be revitalized. Airlines from both countries are expected to be able to finalize plans for new flight routes from Da Nang to Denpasar and Ho Chi Minh-Jakarta as well as additional Jakarta-Ho Chi Minh City flight routes," said President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Antara, Thursday, December 22. President Jokowi conveyed this in a press conference with the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguymen Xu ân Ph&aucute;c. President Phuc paid a state visit to Indonesia on December 21-23, 2022. "We must immediately restore the flow of goods and tourists traffic, such as the pre-pandemic period," added President Jokowi. During the meeting, it was agreed that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) of energy cooperation and mineral resources, cooperation in countering terrorism, and cooperation in eradicating illegal narcotics trade. "I hope that fisheries cooperation and eradicating 'illegal fishing' can be strengthened through accelerating the finalization of the MoU for marine and fisheries cooperation," said President Jokowi. The two leaders of the country also discussed several regional issues. "The priority of Indonesia's Chairship of ASEAN in 2023 is to emphasize ASEAN's central role in maintaining regional stability and peace and ASEAN's central role in making Southeast Asia the center of economic growth," added President Jokowi. He admitted that he appreciated Vietnam's support for the chairmanship of Indonesia in ASEAN. Nguyen President Xuan Phuc said in his statement that Vietnam fully supports the theme of Indonesia's Chairship of ASEAN in 2023, namely "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth". "Next year we will hold 10 years of our strategic partnership and there are 2 things that are directed by this cooperation, namely increasing the exchange of high-level delegations from both countries and translating our agreement into a reality and implementing the ASEAN Program to implement strategic partnerships in 2024-2028," said President Phuc. Presiden Phuc menyebut Indonesia dan Vietnam sepakat untuk mencapai target perdagangan senilai 15 miliar dolar AS pada 2028. In the field of security and defense, President Phuc invites to continue to increase cooperation in the region, including in regional forums.
