JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) emphasized that they do not only focus on the aspect of prosecution. Several prevention efforts have been made, one of which is through the Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP) instrument for local governments.

"The way the KPK works to eradicate corruption certainly does not only focus on taking action," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday, December 22.

Ali said that every action taken by the KPK was usually followed by prevention and anti-corruption education efforts. For example, when arresting regional heads who carry out fraudulent practices with licensing modes to budget management, assistance will be carried out.

"KPK also intensely provides assistance to all local governments both in the executive and legislative branches. Among them are through MCP instruments," he said.

The vulnerable point is also mapped by the KPK through the Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI). "From these findings, the KPK then encourages and monitors its prevention efforts so that corruption does not occur in the region or in the sector," said Ali.

Next, the KPK prevention efforts also target business actors. The reason is that many regional heads and officials are collaborating with business people.

Furthermore, efforts to prevent corruption in the education sector have also been carried out by the KPK in the aftermath of the inactive Lampung University (Unila) arrest operation (OTT) of the University of Lampung (Unila) Karomani.

"Koncritnya, KPK mendorong Kemendikburistek evaluasi dan menerbitkan surat circular terkait penerimaan mahasiswa baru secara transparan dan akuntabel," jelas Ali.

"Similarly, corruption related to case management in the judiciary. The KPK has also conducted a study related to case management at the District Court and High Court levels," he continued.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan previously reminded the KPK not to take action often and take maximum precautions. This was conveyed in front of the Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri.

"We just want to clean up really in heaven. So the KPK shouldn't catch a little bit. That's not good either, yes, look around," Luhut said in his speech at the Launch of Corruption Prevention Action 2023-2024 in the Central Jakarta area, Tuesday, December 20.

Not only that, Luhut also considers that the hand-catching operation (OTT) that is often carried out by the anti-corruption commission also has a bad impact. So, he said, all procurement should be digitized so that corruption prevention can be carried out.

"OTT, OTT is actually good for this country, it's really bad, that's it. But if digitalizes who wants to fight us," he concluded.
