BNNP East Java Destroys One Kg of Crystal Meth

SURABAYA - The East Java Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) destroyed evidence of methamphetamine weighing 1 kilogram which was the result of a handover from the Tanjung Perak Middle Type Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office in Surabaya.

The methamphetamine that was destroyed was the result of disclosure on October 7, 2022", said the Head of the East Java BNNP Eradication Senior Commissioner Daniel Y. Katiandagho reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 21.

Daniel explained the drug trafficking case was revealed after the East Java BNNP Team received a notification from KPPBC TMP Tanjung Perak that a package had been found originating from Malaysia with an MT and SR sender from Madura.

"After conducting a scan of the package, it was found that there were indications of prohibited goods (narcotics) being smuggled hidden in cutting boards and jar mats made of wood. The wood was imported via goods sent by a consignment service company from Malaysia", he said.

Furthermore, BNNP East Java together with KPPBC TMP Tanjung Perak examined the package and it was found that the package contained four packs of white crystals suspected of methamphetamine hidden in a cutting board and a wooden jar mat.

"Then four packets of white crystals suspected of methamphetamine were weighed, each weighing 181 grams, 237 grams, 385 grams, 224 grams, or a total weight of 1,027 grams", said Daniel.

BNNP East Java sent methamphetamine evidence to the East Java Forensic Laboratory and set aside 20 grams for examination. Meanwhile, the remaining 1,007 grams of methamphetamine were destroyed at the East Java BNNP Office.

"Towards MT and SR are currently in the process of investigation", he said.
