As many as three Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) had a working accident at a Malaysian mining company. All three were declared dead.

The Regional Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Mangiring Hasoloan Sinaga said the information was obtained from the victim's family.

"One of PMI's colleagues who died informed his family that a work accident had occurred at a mining company which resulted in three deaths allegedly due to gas poisoning," he said in Mataram, NTB, Wednesday, December 21.

The three PMIs were named Febri Putra Arsandi, Jufri, and Adnani. They came from Mapin Rea Village, West Alas District, Sumbawa Regency, NTB.

Mangiring said the victim's family said the bodies of three PMIs were now in Serdang Malaysia Hospital. The three bodies underwent examination while waiting for the processing of documents for the return to Indonesia.

He said BP3MI NTB had coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the incident.

"The Malaysian authorities are still conducting identity and cause checks. After the results come out, they will also be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur, if any Indonesian citizen (WNI) becomes a victim," he said.

Based on information from the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the post mortem or autopsy of the three bodies was carried out on December 20, 2022.

BP3MI NTB will facilitate return to the area of origin after the three PMI bodies arrived at Zainudin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM), Praya, Central Lombok, NTB.

Mangiring admitted that he was still waiting for the autopsy results in Malaysia to determine the cause of the deaths of the three bodies.

"We are still waiting for definite information regarding the time of his return," he said.
