JAKARTA - The British Royal Family will spend Christmas at Sandringham House for the first time in three years, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

Marking the return of traditional royal celebrations, King Charles III and Queen Camilla will celebrate Christmas at the former SMALL plantation of the late Queen Elizabeth II with family members.

The celebration at Sandringham will be the first time the royal family has spent Christmas at a royal private residence since 2019, as well as the first after Queen Elizabeth II's death in September.

"Her Majesty the king and empress, accompanied by members of the royal family, will attend the Morning at Christmas Day at Sandringham Church on Sunday 25 December 2022," Buckingham Palace said in a brief statement.

It is likely King Charles and Queen Camilla will join Prince and Princess Wales and their children, Princess Anne and her family as well as Prince Edward and her family, but it is not yet clear whether Prince Andrew will participate or not.

The Christmas tradition at Sandringham House stalled when the COVID-19 pandemic, with the late Queen Elizabeth II spending the celebration period at Windsor Castle for two consecutive years the first with the Duke of Edinburgh, separated from her extended family in lockdown.

Royal Christmas celebrations include showing a morning trip to St. Mary Magdalene, remarks from sympathizers and family lunches with turkeys and all their facilities.

King Charles III has reportedly recorded his historic first Christmas Broadcast as king, in which he will surely reflect on the loss of his mother and her legacy.

Traditionally, royal family members sit to watch television broadcasts when broadcast after lunch, usually at 15:00 p.m. on December 25.

Sandringham House has been the private home of four generations of British kings for more than 160 years, and now belongs to the king.

Most recently, the late Queen Elizabeth II celebrated the night of her platinum celebration there seven months before her death.

Sandringham House was purchased in 1862 by the then Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VII, as a private rural retreat.

The house was rebuilt in 1870 to make sure it was big enough for his growing family.

George V, the queen's grandfather, described the house as: "Dear old Sandringham, my most beloved place than anywhere else in the world."

Meanwhile George VI, the queen's father, wrote: "I've always been very happy here and I love this place."
