Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD gave a message to the TNI Commander Admiral Yudi Margono to safeguard Indonesia's sovereignty. Mainly national sea territory.

"If the view nationally, yes, safeguards sovereignty. Sovereignty is territorial. If territoriality may be a problem with the sea, yes, in Indonesian seas which are often passed by ships that violate cross borders, violating sovereign rights sometimes there are countries like other countries that are territory," said Mahfud after attending Yudo Margono's inauguration as TNI Commander at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday 19 December.

In addition, from an ideological perspective, Mahfud said the TNI was part of national defense to maintain the integrity of the Pancasila ideology from other ideologies, such as separatism and radicalism.

"Of course it is part of the national defense. The territorial integrity, the integrity of the ideology; it is the commander's job and later the declaration will be mostly in the tasks and in a day, we will coordinate for the past two days," he said.

President Joko Widodo inaugurated Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI Commander today, Monday, December 19. Yudo replaces General Andika Perkasa who is entering retirement this December.

Yudo Margono's inauguration was carried out based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 91 of the TNI concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, which was set in Jakarta on December 19, 2022.

This inauguration was attended by a number of invited guests. Among them, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, the Chairperson of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, and the Chief of Staff of the TNI. Also present was National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo at the inauguration.
