JAKARTA - The system was fully restored, following the latest Russian bombings targeting water and electricity infrastructure, Mayor Kyiv Vitali Klitschko said on Sunday.

"The city is restoring all services after the latest shooting," Klitschko said on the messaging app Telegram.

"In particular, the capital's heat supply system has fully recovered. All heat supply sources are working normally."

Earlier, Ukrainian officials said Russia fired more than 70 missiles on Friday, one of the greatest series of shootings since the Kremlin's invasion on February 24, forcing an emergency blackout nationwide and cutting off access to heating and water.

Temperatures in Kyiv and many places in Ukraine were below freezing on Sunday morning, with forecasts expected to drop to minus 6 degrees Celsius (21.2 degrees F) in the capital at night.

Kyiv is by far the largest city in Ukraine with an estimated population of around 3 million, with up to two million more in the Kyiv region. As of Saturday evening, a third of the capital's territory remained without electricity supply.

Separately, Sergei Kovalenko, chief executive of the YASNO, who provided electricity for Kyiv said Saturday night, access to electricity has increased gradually every hour.

"The situation remains difficult and critical," said Kovalenko on his Facebook account.
