The Testimony Of Manggarai Fire Victims: Lightning Spreads, The Fire Implements The House So SOON

Residents affected by the fire on Jalan Manggarai Utara II, Manggarai Village, Tebet District, South Jakarta revealed their testimony for the fire that hit his residence on Saturday, December 17 yesterday afternoon.

Around three o'clock in the afternoon, heavy rain accompanied by lightning hit the South Jakarta area. The wind shook quite hard. Siti Nafisah (53) checked the roofs of several of her rented houses to anticipate leakage.

Suddenly, Siti smelled a burning smell and saw a puff of smoke around her house and the rented rented house.

"When lightning grabbed, I was shocked. Then, I immediately smelled a burning smell. I immediately ran to the house because the lights went out. I went up (2rd floor) there was smoke. Then I went down again and it turned out that there was already a fire behind," said Siti when met at the fire site, Sunday, December 18.

Without thinking, Siti went straight to the kitchen, checking the gas leak. The gas installed on the stove has been removed. However, it turned out that the fire grabbed the rented electricity meter and spread so fast to several buildings including his house.

Head of RT 11 RW 01 Manggarai Village, Warsono (55) admitted that almost no items in his house could be saved. When the fire broke out and the fire spread, Warsono could only carry securities and motorcycles away from the hotspots.

"I was at home at the time. When I caught the fire, I took out a motorbike with a letter that could be saved. Everything else, including the contents of my shop, electronic devices, all ran out," said Warsono.

Warsono said that many residents also did not have time to save their belongings because the semi-permanent rented buildings they lived in were immediately engulfed in flames.

"The fire is so big. The house here is also made of wood, Kadi is flammable. Moreover, plus strong winds. So, within five minutes, the fire had soared. Almost nothing could be saved because it happened too fast," he explained.

As is known, a fire broke out in the Manggarai area, South Jakarta on Saturday, December 17, at 15.05 WIB. A total of 28 firefighters and 140 personnel were deployed to tame the red rooster which was finally extinguished at 17.55 WIB.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Isnawa Adji revealed that 53 buildings consisting of rented houses and houses were burned down due to the incident. "13 houses live and 40 doors are rented. 53 family cards or 230 people (affected-ed)," said Isnawa.
