Head of the Food, Maritime and Agricultural Security Service (KPKP) Suharini Eliawati ensures that food prices in Jakarta ahead of Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 remain under control.

However, Eli admitted that there is one food commodity whose price cannot be controlled, namely eggs. Based on the infopangan.jakarta.go.id page, the average price of broiler eggs in Jakarta per day reaches IDR 31,166 per kilogram.

In fact, the determination of the reference price for selling/purchase of chicken eggs by the National Food Agency is IDR 27,000 per kilogram at the consumer level.

"What we need to be aware of is that eggs are currently a type of horticultural food. So far, food price stability in Jakarta ahead of Christmas and New Year can be controlled, except for eggs," said Eli in his statement, Sunday, December 18.

Regarding food availability, Eli said it was in a safe condition in Jakarta. In fact, the majority stock of food commodities is confirmed safe until March 2023.

The safest food stocks include beef and chicken. However, there is one food food whose availability tends to run low, namely chili.

"Even if there is a slight number between stock and needs, it usually occurs for horticultural products such as chili because it cannot be held for long," said Eli.

Eli explained that the increase in price and availability of chilies and eggs need to be watched out for because apart from not being able to be detained for long, it has not yet entered the peak of the harvest.

On that occasion, Eli explained, the DKI Provincial Government focused on three things to anticipate food turmoil ahead of Christmas and New Year. These three things are stock availability, providing security and price guarantees.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya is actively collaborating or partnerships with producing regions to maintain the availability and stability of rice prices in Jakarta.

PT FSTJ together with Perum Bulog continue to strive to maintain rice price stability through the Supply Availability and Price Stabilization (KPSH) program.

"The National Food Agency through Bulog has collaborated directly with the Food Station to ensure the price of medium rice is no more than IDR 8,900 per kilogram," said Eli.

The relevant regional apparatus organizations (OPD) and the Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) also carry out intensive supervision of food products to ensure they are free from harmful materials.

"We always work together to take samples of all foodstuffs circulating in Jakarta while ensuring it is safe from harmful substances," he said.
