JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono inspects drinking water services using a communal reservoir or ground water tank belonging to PAM Jaya in Marunda Kepu Village, Cilincing, North Jakarta.

Heru revealed that this communal reservoir was the response of the DKI Provincial Government to the need for clean water for the residents of Marunda Kepu, who have not yet been served access to piped water.

"The construction of a communal reservoir or ground water tank is an innovation and solution to fulfill the need for clean water for the residents of Marunda Kepu. To the residents of Marunda Kepu, I advise them to always maintain this water service facility and use clean water wisely as needed," said Heru at the location, Friday, December 16.

Heru emphasized that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through PAM Jaya will continue to strive to realize the fulfillment of 100 percent of the need for piped drinking water for all Jakarta residents by 2030.

One of them is by carrying out the construction of a 4.000-kilometer pipeline which will be built in stages in the next two years or 2023-2024.

"I hope PAM Jaya can continue to carry out clean water services for Jakarta residents while maintaining the quality, quantity, and continuity of water availability," said Heru.

PAM Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin added that the communal reservoir was built in Marunda Kepu accompanied by a booster pump near residential areas.

This service, according to Arief, is a solution to the problems of residents in Marunda Kepu experiencing a lack of clean water due to a lack of water pressure and increased need.

From the problems we found in the field, we found a simple solution, namely the construction of a communal reservoir. In principle, we created a water reservoir near the settlement. After the water was filled, we then pumped it into people's homes," Arief explained.

Furthermore, PAM Jaya will also build communal reservoirs in a number of other areas that have not been served by pipeline access, namely Taman Sari, Krendang Tambora, Kalideres Duri Kosambi, Muara Baru RW 17 Penjaringan, Marunda Pulo, Kalibaru, and PPK Kemayoran - Kebon Blank.
