SOUTH SULAWESI - The Grand Imam of the Al-Markaz Al-Islami Mosque in Makassar, Muammar Muhammad Bakry, said that the suicide bombing was a quotient act. He said the action was not in accordance with Islamic principles and teachings.

This was said by Bakry in response to the suicide bombing at the Astanaanyar Police, Bandung, West Java, some time ago.

"In principle, Islam strictly prohibits whatever reason it is committing suicide bombings; and in some references, that the person who carried out the suicide bombing was a focal activity. So, the death of an infidel," Bakry said in a release from the National Counterterrorism Agency, Thursday 15 December.

He explained that there was no justification for acts of terror, even in war situations. The Prophet Muhammad SAW, he continued, also prohibited suicide bombings.

In addition, Indonesia is also a country with safe conditions, not Darul Harb or an enemy country, as considered by radical groups.

"In a war situation as well as Islam, the Prophet (Muhammad) SAW forbade committing suicide bombings on his own, especially in a safe country. Our country is not Darul Harb, Indonesia is not Darul Harb," said Bakry.

The leader of the Al-Fakhriyah Multidimensional Islamic Boarding School added that the meaning of jihad, infidels, and raw clothes is often a provision for certain individuals to carry out acts of terror. In fact, Bakry assessed that the misinterpretation of the meaning was piracy of religion.

"These terms are often misunderstood by certain groups. In fact, usually these themes can be said to hijack Islam. So, interpreting the wrong meaning of jihad itself," said the General Secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of South Sulawesi Province.

If you refer to the Qur'an or hadith, according to Bakry, then jihad is a holy activity whose objects, targets, and intentions are clear.

"While the suicide bombing was not clear at all, the target was also unclear, and his vision was certainly very different from the values of jihad," said Bakry.

Like terrorism, which is an extraordinary crime, it is the common responsibility of all parties to embrace and revive the nation's children who are caught in the radical ideological virus and terrorism.

"Our brother, who claims to be Islam, admitted to being an Indonesian, but was then influenced by a wrong teacher, by wrong reading and references; so I think the victim could indeed be said to be a victim. We need to help them get out of such radicalism, by denigating (dradicalization) them," he explained.

In addition, the cooperation of all components of the nation, including the Government and leaders, in order to prevent this understanding from entering the community. This should have been done simultaneously in a bottom-up and top-down manner.
