JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) John Wempi Wetipo confirmed that 204,656,053 population data for potential election voters (DP4) submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the General Elections Commission (KPU) had been encrypted and passed verification.

"That's verified data, so there's no duplicate data," Wempi said in his statement, Wednesday, December 14.

The DP4 General Election 2024 comes from population data for the first semester of 2022 which has been verified and validated by the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Population Administration Information System (SIAK) centrally and strengthened by data failure through the electronic ID recording process.

Not only that, the data has also been updated and adjusted to population events in the form of death, moving to come, and recording electronic ID cards until December 2022.

"We have guaranteed it, it has been anticipated, there is no (dual data)," he said.

However, said Wempi, considering the very high dynamics of population data, it is necessary to update data to the field and update data that has changed due to population events, such as deaths and moving.

This can be done regularly every six months by the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The goal is that voter data is always stuck so as to produce accurate and quality voter data.

"We will continue to update, later we will cooperate between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Indonesian KPU for this process until the process of holding simultaneous elections on February 14, 2024," said Wempi.

KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari also explained that the DP4 that had been submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the KPU would be carried out a matching and research process or known as "cow".

This process is part of the stages of updating data and compiling voter lists in the general election.

In accordance with the mandate of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections, the Ministry of Home Affairs handed over DP4 for the 2024 General Election to the KPU. The data contains potential voters in the 2024 General Election as many as 204,656,053 people.

This number consists of men as many as 102,181,591 people and women 102,474,462 people. The data also includes 38 provinces, including four new autonomy regions (DOB), namely South Papua, Central Papua, Papua Mountains, and Southwest Papua, as well as 514 districts/cities.
