845 People Launched Due To Fire In Lorong Tofu Ambon, Association Of Traders Opening Service Posts

The fire in the Lorong Tofu area adjacent to Mardika Market, Ambon, is still being traced. The Mardika Market Traders Association (APMA) opened a post for fire victims who needed assistance or services.

The Coordinator of the APMA Command Post, La Gonsa Ahmad, said that APMA opened this assistance post to facilitate the victims of the fire impact in obtaining assistance, such as basic necessities, clothes, blankets, and box food.

"We received complaints from the refugees, at the main post, to get assistance there must be an ID card and family card. We are here not making it difficult for them, We want to make it easier for all fire victims to receive it," said La Gonsa Ahmad, in Ambon, Tuesday, December 13, confiscated by Antara.

Traders who are really victims of APMA will help, they only need to fill in data such as name and phone number if any.

For those who come as heads of families, it will be asked how many are in need, while the singles are immediately given what is needed.

"It's true that the victims, we will help, if there are basic necessities, we will give basic necessities, we will also give box food directly to them," said Ahmad.

The APMA post also receives various kinds of donations in any form. But it is very prioritized, namely, basic necessities, clothes, blankets, diapers and baby milk, as well as box food.

"We have been open since Saturday, December 10, 2022, so it has been three days. We hope that this assistance can be distributed properly, and there are no obstacles," he said.

A fire broke out in the Lorong Tofu area which is next door to Mardika Market on Friday, December 9 at around 03.30 WIT.

Hundreds of houses, kiosks and stalls of traders were burned down. It was almost more than five hours before the fire was extinguished by the fire department, assisted by the community.

The incident resulted in three victims, two of whom died, one other person was burned and has been treated at the Bhayangkara Hospital in Ambon. Now, as many as 845 people are taking refuge.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The police have installed a police line' so that there is no community activity in the fire area.
