JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection asked the Depok City Government, West Java to prepare infrastructure for students of SDN Pondok Cina 1 before carrying out school relocation for the construction of houses of worship. "The Depok City Government needs to prepare first for replacement infrastructure, lest students be moved to two different buildings which will have an impact on the difficulty of the student adaptation process and the emergence of cases of violence or bullying," said Acting Deputy for Fulfillment of Children's Rights at the Ministry of PPPA Rini Handayani in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, December 13. According to him, the readiness of facilities and infrastructure is important because this is a prerequisite for the implementation of the education process properly. The plan to relocate SDN Pondok Cina 1 for the construction of houses of worship is still a polemic. Rini Handayani emphasized that every decision-making regarding children's lives must pay attention to the four principles of children's rights and the best interests of children. "The transfer of SDN Pondok Cina 1 with the reason for the safety of children and the best interests for children must be balanced with the availability and readiness of school infrastructure in accordance with the aspirations and input from children and parents/guardians including the suitability of study hours," said Rini Handayani. This, said Rini, needs to be discussed together so that children continue to get their education rights. He added that the decision to relocate needs to be communicated with three pillars, namely children, parents, and education units. Relocation must also fulfill children's rights and be carried out with a child-friendly process. His party also encouraged the relocation stage to be communicated so as not to hinder the teaching and learning process in schools. "Don't let this polemic actually create a sense of trauma in children. Make sure the children feel safe and comfortable, including giving access to school and returning home is also ensured to be safe," said Rini.
