The Garut Kejari has detained a Karyasari Village Head for allegedly committing a criminal act of corruption in the village fund budget (ADD) with a state loss of Rp493 million.

"Today, we have determined the person concerned with the initials K as a suspect and we will immediately detain him," said Kajari Garut, Neva Sari Susanti at a press conference, Monday, December 12.

The suspect with the initials K is a village head who is still active. The perpetrator has been detained at the Garut Detention Center for further legal proceedings.

He conveyed that the other budget allocations related to tourism development programs budgeted amounted to Rp263 million, but when checked in the field it was known that only about 40 percent were built so that until now it cannot be used and the construction cannot be carried out on village asset land.

Furthermore, he explained, the suspect misappropriated the use of funds amounting to Rp. 32 million for the empowerment of the village community, but realized approximately Rp. 5 million.

"The amount is based on the results of the Inspectorate's calculations, the loss is approximately Rp493 million. The village funds are used by the village head," he said.

He revealed that the suspect in the use of ADD was carried out and processed alone without going through village meetings and other mechanisms that regulate the use of ADD.

The money that the suspect misappropriated, said Neva, was used for personal gain, building pavilions for tourism, and so on.

"The proceeds of corruption, yes, for personal interests, among others, are like that. Meanwhile, we know that he used village funds to build tourism pavilions, that was earlier," he said.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was detained to undergo further legal proceedings and was charged with Article 2 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999 which was amended in 2020-2021 with a minimum penalty of 4 years with a minimum fine of IDR 50 million.
