MALUKU - The North Maluku Provincial Government (Malut) through the Investment Office and One Stop Integrated Service (DPMPTSP) sent a letter to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) regarding the request to revoke the permit for management of Widi Island by PT Leadership Islands Indonesia (LII).

The head of the North Maluku Province DPMPTSP, Bambang Hermawan, confirmed that the North Maluku Provincial Government has issued a letter requesting the revocation of the Widi Island management permit to BKPM.

According to him, the letter was due to several considerations. The first is the violation of the Joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North Maluku Provincial Government and the South Halmahera Regency Government as well as a letter from the Regent of South Halmahera regarding the Revocation of Understanding or MoU.

"This means that if one of the parties has withdrawn, then the MoU will fall and the MoU will no longer apply if one of the parties withdraws, thus there will be no more cooperation requirements," he said when contacted, Thursday, December 8, confiscated by Antara.

Therefore, with the second consideration, namely regarding the permit to use forest areas for tourism. Meanwhile, after being granted three times, PT LII did not do work or activities. Permits were granted for the first time in 2015, then extended and ended 2017. In 2018 the permit was issued again.

Therefore, based on this, the North Maluku DPMPTSP asked the BKPM to revoke the management of the island of widi by PT LII. That's because PT LII is a foreign investment company (PMA), whose authority lies with the BKPM.

Meanwhile, the North Maluku Provincial Government through DPMPTSP only provides support for recommendations and permits below, for example, the suitability of space, UKL UPL, and permits for tourism utilization for its forest areas.

Bambang admitted, by freezing the permit to use protected forests as a tourist area, there is no longer a central basis for extending his permit.

Bambang added that the North Maluku Provincial Government had never received any notification from P TLII regarding the planned auction for the management of Widi Islands tourism at one of the foreign sites.

"There is no notification, there is no correspondence either, and whatever the reason is deviation," he said.

Previously, the South Halmahera Regency Government (Halsel) urged the North Maluku Provincial Government to revoke the permit for the management of Widi Island which was granted to PT LII.

Halsel Regent, Usman Sidik said the request from the North Maluku Regency Government was due to Widi Island being included in the list of foreign auction sites Sotheby's Concierge Auctions based in New York, United States.

"In connection with the unilateral action of PT LII as the holder of the Widi Islands management permit which allegedly violated openly all contract terms and clauses contained in the MoU, the North Maluku Provincial Government must revoke the management permit and cancel the MoU between the provincial government and PT LII number 120.23/671/G, number 430/1047/2015, number LII/V/2015/001 dated 27 June 2015 regarding the development and development of the Widi Islands tourism area," he said, in Ternate, Maluku, Thursday 8 December.
