JAKARTA - Minister of Economy and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno met with Governor Ganjar Pranowo to discuss increasing the potential of Indonesian tourism, especially in Central Java province.

At the meeting, Ganjar Pranowo submitted a report on the potential for tourism owned by Central Java, one of which was religious tourism. Religious tourism offered by Central Java is like a pilgrimage to Wali Songo's grave.

According to Ganjar, tourist visits during pilgrimages can increase sharply when coinciding with certain moments.

"Actually, if we look at the pilgrimage place or religious tourism, this is not inferior, it's extraordinary, especially if when they visit there there is shalawatan Wow, it's even more crowded, it's possible if we generalize 10 thousand people per one moment it's extraordinary," said Ganjar Pranowo to Sandiaga Uno, Wednesday 7 December.

Welcoming this, Sandiaga Uno will develop tourism potential in East Java, especially in the religious tourism sector. The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy said he would add options such as sholawatan so that visitors could increase.

"So this is interesting because there are destinations, but if it is equipped with shalawatan or maulid events, that was the target of 1,000 to 1,500, it could be 10,000 - 15,000 because our religious tourism has the potential to be packaged with Umrah tourism," said Sandiaga Uno.

"So Mr. Luhut and several colleagues at the coordination meeting said we had a lot of leaks because from the usual Umrah package 7 to 10 days and then his return home stopped in Turkey and what if we make a package like the one offered by Mr. Ganjar, it might also be interesting later for us to develop," continued Sandiaga.

Furthermore, Sandiaga Unome stated that he was ready to collaborate with Ganjar Pranowo in developing religious tourism.

"Mas @ganjar_pranowo and I are ready to COLLABORATE to maximize the extraordinary potential of Indonesian religious tourism, especially if it is equipped with events such as shalawat or maulid, the number of tourists can increase many times so as to encourage the creation of the widest quality new job opportunities," said Sandiaga Uno via his Instagram account.

"In addition, we will also make religiIndonesia tour packages with Umrah tourism by utilizing Indonesia's religious destinations such as pilgrimages to the graves of the Sunan. We will continue to develop the domestic tourism package, so that Indonesian tourism can rise," he said.
