Dear Mothers, Don't Forget That Your Child Has Been Immunized By A Complete Polio

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin reminded mothers to ensure that their children receive complete polio immunization so that Indonesia is immediately free from the spread of the polio virus.

"I advise mothers at home, make sure their children get complete polio immunizations," he said during the declaration of the National Immunization Sub Week (PIN) Polio in Banda Aceh City, Monday, December 5, as reported by Antara.

This emphasis was conveyed by him following the detection of a polio case or paralyzed paralyzed in the Mane region, Pidie Regency, Aceh, which had been designated as an extraordinary event (KLB).

He explained that Aceh is not the area with the lowest immunization coverage, but is one of the low areas.

Therefore, he invites parents, especially mothers, to bring their children to immunize polio.

He explained that immunization is an effort to prevent children from being protected from the polio virus which causes paralysis, with legs shrinking so that they cannot walk.

"If our children are affected, then they can't walk, we are sad to see, because they are disabled. No mother wants her child to be disabled," he said.

He explained that children are required to get four polio drops at the age of 1-4 months, then proceed with two polio injections when they are 4-9 months old.

The immunization, he said, must be followed completely, no one should be missed.

"So leave it, mothers remember four times polio drops, two times polio injections, so that the mother's child is not disabled, because if he is infected, he is disabled, he cannot stand up, very sorry for the children," he said.

Minister of Health Budi has also launched a Sub PIN Polio in Aceh, with a total target of 1.2 million children aged 0-12 years. This activity is targeted to be completed within a month.

"I really want (Sub PIN, ed.) to be finished a month, because why, so that polio is no longer affected by Acehnese children," he said.

To date, four polio cases have been recorded in the westernmost province of Indonesia. All of them are from the Mane area, Pidie. Four patients are receiving medical treatment from Dr. Zainoel Abidin Hospital, Banda Aceh City and physiotherapist.
